The Turkey it becomes, undoubtedly, a characteristic dish of both Christmas and the traditional Thanksgiving in the United States and Canada. In addition, such is its popularity as a Christmas recipe, which many other countries have adopted as an exquisite option for the celebration of Christmas Eve. An example is the Roasted turkey with almonds and raisins , about whose recipe we are going to talk to you on this occasion, and which is very popular in Poland.
It is a 'Medium' difficulty recipe, like the delicious one Christmas turkey stuffed with fruits in which we spoke to you at a previous moment. However, this does not mean that your preparation has to be complicated. In fact, it only takes a little patience and time (since between preparation and cooking we will have to wait around 3 hours approximately). Do you dare to prepare it ?.
- 1 turkey of 3 kg
- 4 large slices of bread
- 3 eggs
- 160 g of currants
- 100 g of chopped almonds
- 20 g of sugar
- 1 sprig of dill
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- Ground black pepper
Preparation of the roasted turkey with almonds and raisins:
Thoroughly clean the inside of the turkey and add a little salt and black pepper to taste. Chop the dill and reserve. Put milk in a large bowl, remove the crusts from the slices of bread and soak them with a little milk. Separate the egg whites from the yolks and mix the slices of bread with the egg yolks and a little melted butter. Add the almonds, the currants and the sugar. Garnish with aneto, ground black pepper, nutmeg and reserve.
Put a little butter in a pan and fry the liver of the turkey on it. Cháfalo a little with the help of a fork and mix it with the previous ingredients.
In a cold bowl beat the egg whites until stiff and apply it to the previous mixture. To finish with this part, season with a little salt and ground black pepper.
Now proceed to fill the inside of the turkey with all the previous preparation. With the help of a kitchen thread sew the opening to prevent the stuffing of the turkey from coming out during cooking. With a little melted butter, brush the meat and put it in the oven, for 10 minutes, at 220º C. Then, after this time, lower the temperature to 190º C and handle for 2 hours and 15 minutes approximately. It is very important that, from time to time, you irrigate the meat with a little water. In this way, you will prevent it from drying out.
