In a previous article we were able to find out about the benefits and properties of peppers , knowing for example that, among other issues, they are rich in vitamin C and beta-carotene.
And is that as we discussed at the time, the pepper it comes to be an herbaceous plant that contains a series of small flowers and is native to America, being ideal for example in a natural food , since it can be consumed raw, boiled or roasted.
However, today we are going to echo the Peppers in regard to its content in antioxidants , with special emphasis on what we can find in them.
Peppers and antioxidants
As we saw earlier, Peppers are especially rich in vitamin C (such as ascorbate), especially Red peppers , since 60 grams of this type of pepper contains the recommended daily amount of this vitamin.
It also contains an important contribution of lycopene , a great antioxidant that we also find in the tomato , and that helps protect us against cancers such as prostate, breast or bladder cancer.
We must not forget either another very special antioxidant, as is the case of beta carotene, given that although it contains a smaller amount than carrots, it is an equally interesting substance in peppers.
Another substance that we also find in peppers, and that is a good antioxidant, is what is known as capsaicin, which, apparently, acts by forcing 80% of cancer cells to initiate a process of self-destruction.
